Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 20 and 21 August 2025.

Octavia Housing - Park Lodge House is a domiciliary care agency. It provides personal care to people living in their own homes within an extra care scheme. Extra care housing is purpose-built or adapted single household accommodation in a shared site or building. The accommodation is rented and is the occupant’s own home. People’s care and housing are provided under separate contractual agreements. CQC does not regulate premises used for extra care housing; this assessment looked at people’s personal care and support service. The service provides support for older adults. At the time of our assessment, 13 people were receiving the regulated activity of personal care.

Medicines were administered safely and as prescribed. Risks in relation to people’s health and wellbeing were assessed and risk management plans developed. There was a robust recruitment process for new staff. Staff completed induction, training and were supported through regular supervision and team meetings. There were enough staff employed to meet people’s needs. Following incidents, safeguarding and complaints investigations were carried out and improvement actions identified. Staff felt supported by senior staff. The provider had several audits and quality assurance systems including obtaining feedback from people and staff on the care provided.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives felt the care was provided in a safe, kind and caring way. People’s care needs were assessed to ensure they could be met by the service.

People and relatives were happy with the care provided with relatives commenting, “It ceases to amaze me how kind and caring they all are and [family member] looks forward to seeing them,” and “The carers that [family member] knows and trusts call [throughout] the day.” We saw positive and respectful interactions between people and staff. An external professional told us they felt the service was effective at focusing on person centred care and encouraging people to become involved in activities.
