During a routine inspection

We did not have an opportunity to meet with people who had used the service. This was because people did not visit the office and treatment was in the main provided at events and at the weekends across the city.

We did view letters sent to St John Ambulance Avon. Comments included 'I want to pay tribute to two volunteers as I was taken ill at the Theatre Royal, I wasn't rushed, I was talked to sensitively and was looked after very well', I was impressed with all aspects of the service provided to me and the excellent attention'. Another person said 'Lovely service, the staff sat with me until the paramedics arrived and took me to hospital'.

We spoke with an NHS Ambulance service that contracts work on a both regular and ad hoc basis with St John Ambulance. The link person for the NHS Ambulance service spoke positively about the service being provided, stating that the service was well organised and responsive to requests. They told us good links had been built with them and that regular contact was made with a named link person within St John Ambulance Service.
