Our current view of the service

Updated 7 April 2026

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 7 July 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice had ineffective systems to identify and manage risks. In particular, the risks associated with fire safety, health and safety, stock control, hazardous substances and staff recruitment.

The practice did not have effective safeguarding processes and staff did not know their responsibilities for safeguarding.

Improvements were required to the oversight of provision of staff mandatory training.

Clinical notes were not always recorded in line with recognised guidance.

The practice did not have effective systems to review and investigate incidents and accidents.

Dental Surgery is in Kirkby, Liverpool and provides NHS treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available near the practice.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 4 staff, of which there were 1 dentist, 1 qualified dental nurse, 1 receptionist and the practice manager (who was also a qualified dental nurse). We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 1 dental nurse, 1 receptionist and a finance manager.

The provider was not complying with Regulation 13 Safeguarding service users from abuse and improper treatment and Regulation 17 Good Governance. Full details of the regulations the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.

In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

People's experience of the service

Updated 7 April 2026

Prior to our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive any patient feedback.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
