We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 14 July 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations. We did identify some areas for improvement.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures in place reflected current legislation and requirements but records held and made available to us demonstrated these procedures were not followed at all times. Some areas of governance required strengthening.

Dental Confidence is part of a group provider, BUPA Dental Care, and is in Southampton. The practice provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice by portable ramp and car parking spaces were available near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there were 6 dentists, 6 dental nurses, 3 dental hygienists, 3 receptionists and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 1 dental nurse, 1 dental hygienists, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. The Quality Improvement Lead for the practice was also present to support the practice manager during the inspection.

We reviewed patient feedback from a number of sources, including on-line reviews, feedback collected by the practice, patient compliments and any complaints received. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.

Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
