20 November 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

When we previously inspected The Preston Circus Dental Practice we found that the provider was not meeting all the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008.

During this inspection we spoke with three members of staff, these were two dental nurses and a dentist.

The improvements required to comply with the regulations, in relation to having an effective accident and incident recording system were in place and had been made.

4 July 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with six patients. We spoke with three members of staff; these were the dental nurse / receptionist and two dentists.

We also took information from other sources to help us understand the views of people who used the service, which included a patient satisfaction survey and staff meeting minutes.

The patients we spoke with told us they thought they had received good dental treatment from the dentists. One patient told us 'I'm more than happy with the care I get'. Another patient told us 'The dentist I see is lovely, they see my whole family'.

The practice was following appropriate guidance in relation to infection control and we also saw that the service had quality assurance systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. However we did identify non-compliance with respect to the recording and analysis of accidents and incidents.
