All Inspections

8 April 2014

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This was a follow up inspection which focussed on areas of concern identified at the last inspection. As a result, it was not necessary to talk to people that used the service.

We found that the provider had made the required improvements to the service. We found that arrangements were in place to ensure that people's medical history were checked before treatment commenced. We also found that the provider had introduced a safeguarding policy to protect children and vulnerable adults from the risk of harm. We saw that improvements had been made to the recruitment procedures which ensured that staff were of suitable background and character for their role.

28 August 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

At the previous inspection we identified areas related to the management and record keeping that required improvement. This inspection focussed on what improvements had been made to recording people's medical details, the procedures that were in place to deal with medical emergencies, the procedures that were in place to protect people from abuse, the procedures that were in place to ensure staff were suitable for their role, and the procedures that were in place to handle complaints.

We found that the required improvements had been made to how the provider handled complaints but found that there were areas of concern outstanding in all other areas relevant to this inspection.

25 March 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke to people who used the service and one person told us they liked the service and the dentist had a good manner. One person said the dentist "makes me feel at ease" and that they understood the treatment they had received. One person told us that the dentist gave them a copy of their treatment plan and explained this to them. They were then given time to decide if they wished to go ahead with the treatment.

We found concerns with the arrangements for dealing with medical emergencies, safeguarding procedures, checks made on staff prior to their employment and complaints procedures.
