Trust Primary Care Ltd (TPC Ltd.) is a federation of 16 local GP practices located in and around Bradford.TPC Ltd. provide a range of NHS services for patients registered at member GP practices, some of which are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We assessed only these regulated services, which consisted of the following:
- Dermatology service providing assessment, investigation, treatment and follow-up of patients suffering with skin disease.
- Specialist skin service for removal of low risk basal cell carcinomas, and surgical management of pre-cancerous lesions.
- Minor eye surgery service providing assessment, drainage of eyelid cysts, removal of benign skin lesions from the eyelids, and syringing of nasolacrimal ducts.
- Non scalpel vasectomy service providing contraception for men who have completed their families.
- Warfarin monitoring service including home visits.
These services are carried out at member practices under Any Qualified Provider (AQP) contracts, which is a type of contract that allows patients to choose from a range of qualified providers to receive NHS services. We visited 4 member practices as part of this assessment.
The provider is registered with CQC to deliver the following regulated activities; diagnostic and screening procedures, surgical procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The service is situated within the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board area.
Staff involved in the regulated services include GPwERs (GP with Extended Role), warfarin practitioners, pharmacists, nurse specialists, and a team of non-clinical staff. There is also a board of directors, and a chief operating officer.
This is the first assessment for this service since their registration with CQC. At this assessment we reviewed the service’s performance in the key questions safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The service is rated good overall and for all key questions.
