Wimpole Clinic (Manchester)

The assessment identified significant IPC, medicines management and governance concerns. Staff were unable to demonstrate awareness of IPC policies or training requirements, incident reporting processes were unclear, and environmental hygiene, equipment maintenance and sharps management required improvement. Stock control and traceability were weak, with incomplete records, poor oversight of medicines and transfers between sites, an expired medicine in stock, and medicines being repackaged without appropriate governance. Multiple breaches of good governance were identified due to inadequate assurance, accountability and risk management. Following escalation, the provider made improvements, including removing an unauthorised steriliser, completing a deep clean, improving environmental standards and demonstrating appropriate IPC practices, although governance and medicines management concerns remained.
