Our current view of the service

We carried out this announced off-site inspection on 26 February 2026.
Where we carry out an off-site assessment, we undertake a detailed review of the practice risk assessments, policies, staff records and other relevant documents. We gather feedback from patients, staff and stakeholders (where relevant). We carry out a remote visual assessment of the premises and have discussions with staff.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Mydentist - Fore Street - Seaton is part of Mydentist, a dental group provider. The practice is in Seaton in Devon and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
Due to the restrictions of the building and its listed status, the practice was not wheelchair accessible. Patients requiring accessible facilities were directed to a nearby sister practice.
The practice had 5 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 18 staff. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses, and the practice manager. Two of the group’s regulatory officers were also at the inspection, supporting the practice.
People's experience of the service
Updated

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us via a questionnaire, and we received feedback from 10 patients.
Patients praised the practice for ease of access and booking, stating, “Booked appointment online, very easy.”
Support for anxious patients was highlighted, with one patient commenting, “Pleasant experience. Dentist was very reassuring as I am a nervous patient.”
Positive feedback also reflected good communication and overall experience, including remarks such as, “Nice experience,” and “Thank you, much appreciated.”
Staff professionalism and attitude were frequently commended, with comments including, “Great service, lovely staff, lovely experience,” and “Reception staff a credit to you. Always happy and polite.”
Cleanliness and the environment were generally viewed positively; however, a small number of patients and some staff indicated that aspects of the décor could be improved. We discussed this with the leadership team, who confirmed they would review the feedback and take action where appropriate.
In addition, the practice had systems in place to gather ongoing patient feedback and provided us with responses collected between October 2025 and February 2026.
Of the 38 patients who responded during this period, 82% stated they were either likely or extremely likely to recommend the practice. Where patients had not rated the service or had expressed dissatisfaction, systems were in place to discuss these concerns with them whenever possible.
We also reviewed recent online feedback, which was mainly positive. Where concerns were raised, the practice had responded and encouraged patients to make direct contact to discuss their experience.
