We saw that an assessment of people's needs was carried out prior to them starting to use the service. Risk assessments were completed and care plans put in place. We saw that these were formally reviewed each year as a minimum. People and their families or carers were involved in the care planning process. People's health and social needs were considered.

People had choices about the activities they took part in during the days. Their capacity to consent had been determined by other professionals prior to them starting to use the service. Where a person did not have the capacity to consent and a decision was made in the best interest a record was kept of this.

We saw that a recruitment process was followed for staff to ensure only suitable qualified and experienced staff who were of good character provided care and support for people.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. We saw that all paper and electronic records were kept securely. They were well completed and easy to follow. Contracts were in place to securely dispose of confidential waste and store archived documents.

People who used the service were assessed to ensure they were suitable for the service this agency offered.

Plans of care had been developed for people who used the service and explained how service users were assisted to attend community based or day centre activities.

Staff were well trained, supervised and supported in their roles to help them meet the needs of people who used the service.

There were safeguarding policies and procedures to protect people from possible abuse.
