During a routine inspection

We spoke to two people using the service who also had friends or relatives who used the service. They told us that staff always explained their treatment and were "extremely clear". After a particular treatment course had been chosen people were provided with a written copy of their treatment plan which featured details about the options considered. We looked at the results of recent patient feedback surveys completed in 2013. All 20 respondents were positive about the staff and how they were treated at the service. The people we spoke with described staff as "courteous", "accommodating" and "professional".

The people that we spoke with described the service as "excellent" and said they were "very pleased" with their treatment. All respondents in the patient feedback were positive about the treatment they had received. Staff knew what to do in the event of a medical emergency and emergency drugs and equipment were available.

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate published guidance had been followed.

Clinical staff undertook the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training necessary to maintain their professional registrations. This included mandatory training in appropriate topics such radiation protection and basic life support, as well as other courses related to the specific treatments provided at the service.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.
