Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 25 to 27 August 2026.

Ladden View is a residential care home which provides accommodation and support to up to 75 people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of our inspection 47 people were living at the home.

We carried out this assessment because the service had not been inspected before, and to review some concerns we had received. This was the first inspection of the service and we reviewed all quality statements. Our overall rating for the service is good.

This location has dual registration with Care UK Community Partnerships Ltd and Care UK Care Services Limited. This means both providers are registered at the location and share responsibility for service delivery.

People were safe and protected from abuse and avoidable harm. The service had effective safeguarding systems and processes, and assessments of people's needs and risks informed care planning and guided staff practice.

The environment was very pleasant and homely, and staff identified and controlled risks in the home. Staff effectively assessed, monitored and managed risks relating to infection and hygiene were.

Staff worked with relatives and health and social care professionals to support continuity of care and respond when people’s needs changed. They delivered evidence based care and support and monitored this to promote good outcomes and a positive quality of life for people. Staff knew people well and understood the importance of providing person centred care, respecting people’s wishes and promoting their independence.

Staff were kind and compassionate. We saw many warm interactions between staff and people who lived at the service. Staff respected people’s privacy and dignity and delivered care in a way that reflected their individual preferences, rights and choices. Staff sought consent from people and involved them in decisions wherever possible.

There had been recent changes to the management team at the service. While some described this as unsettling at times, most of the feedback we received about the leadership at the service was positive. Staff, professionals and relatives told us there was a positive culture which focused on people who lived at the service.

Governance and quality assurance systems had not always supported the delivery of safe, effective and consistent care, and concerns had not always been addressed promptly. However, improvements had been made and changes were being embedded at the time of our inspection.Continuous learning and development were promoted to ensure people received high quality care.

We identified recent shortfalls in the management of medicines. The management team were aware of these issues and had taken action to address them.

We also received mixed feedback about staffing levels and the training and skills of staff. The management team were aware of the concerns which had been raised and had oversight of all aspects of staffing. Staff were recruited safely and were supported with regular supervision.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with people who lived at the service and their relatives about their experience of Ladden View. Some people could not tell us about their experience in detail.
