Inspection Summary

Overall summary & rating

Good

Updated 27 November 2020

Church View is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 45 people aged 65 and above, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of the inspection the service was supporting 43 people.

We found the following examples of good practice

• Safe arrangements were in place for people to receive visits from health professionals which included a temperature check, health questionnaire and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and hand sanitiser.

• There were sufficient stocks of PPE including masks, gloves, aprons and hand sanitiser. This helped reduce the risk of cross infection. Staff were seen to be wearing PPE appropriately during the visit and there were sufficient PPE stations throughout the home.

• Staff had undertaken training in putting on and taking off PPE and other Covid-19 related training.

• Steps had been taken to promote social distancing.

• Management praised staff for the way they supported people who used the service as well as each other.

• A cleaning schedule was in place and we observed the home was clean and tidy with emphasis on cleaning and sanitising regular touch points, such as door handles and light switches.
