All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 1 October 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had systems to identify and manage risks.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The Avenue Dental Practice is in Leicestershire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 12 staff, of which there were 5 dentists, 4 dental nurses (including 2 trainee dental nurses), 1 dental hygienist and 2 receptionists. We gathered feedback and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse and 2 receptionists.

6 February 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five patients and six members of staff. We reviewed five treatment plans and five electronic patient records. We saw information relating to 11 members of staff.

The patients we spoke with told us that their treatment had been discussed and that they were able to make an informed decision about their treatment. One patient told us: 'I received a good explanation about my treatment from the dentist, which included three to four treatment options. The dentist answered all of my questions. I signed the consent form.'

All of the patients we spoke with had high regard for the quality of care and kindness displayed by the staff. One patient told us: 'I am always treated well at this practice. The staff are welcoming, nice and really friendly. I would recommend this practice to other people.'

Staff were observed wearing uniforms and other appropriate personal protective equipment. None of the patients we spoke with had any concerns about the cleanliness of the practice.

We saw that all dental treatment was provided by a qualified dentist and the dental nurses who were registered with the General Dental Council (GDC), the professional regulator of dental practitioners.

We also saw that a range of audits, risk assessments and checks were carried out to ensure systems and practices were working effectively.
