Date of Assessment: 2 June to 23 June 2025. Lifeways Community Care (East Midlands) is registered to provide supported living services and homecare. They provide personal care to people with learning disabilities and autistic people living in their own homes. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Not everyone who used the service received personal care through the homecare provision, so we did not inspect this part of the service as CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.

At the time of the inspection there were 8 people receiving regulated activity. This inspection was carried out following information of concern we had received about the quality of the care in the service. We found improvements had been made following our last inspection. Staff provided safe care to meet people’s needs, people’s care plans were regularly reviewed and updated when required. Medicines were managed safely, and we found there was enough staff available to meet people's needs. We found the staff to be passionate about supporting people to achieve positive outcomes and staff demonstrated a good understanding of equality and diversity and understood the barriers people could face. The provider ensured staff were aware of their vision and values and we found the management team to be knowledgeable and experienced; they demonstrated a good management oversight of the service.

People's experience of the service

Updated 16 May 2025

People spoke positively about the service they received, and the care staff provided. We observed staff to deliver person centred support, and it was evident people guided the support they received. We saw good examples of how staff had ensured people’s care and support was tailored to their individual needs and wishes. People were supported to pursue their hobbies and interests. The majority of relatives we spoke with were also happy with the service and told us staff treated their family members well. Relatives also told us they had regular opportunities to feedback their views but some feedback we received demonstrated they did not feel their concerns had been listened to. The provider told us of the actions they would take to address this to improve communication.
