During an inspection looking at part of the service

On this occasion we did not speak to people who use the service because we were looking at whether the provider had taken action with regards to infection control. However, when we visited in April 2012 people said they were satisfied with the treatment they had received, and were positive about the service. They said the dentist always explained their treatment options to them, including cost. People who were new to the practice said they had been asked to complete a medical questionnaire, and the dentist had asked them questions about this. The people we spoke with said they could usually get an appointment quite quickly. People said the surgery looked clean when they visited.

During a routine inspection

The people we spoke with said they were satisfied with the treatment they had received, and were positive about the service. They said the dentist always explained their treatment options to them, which included how much it would cost where relevant. People who were new to the practice said they had been asked to complete a medical questionnaire, and the dentist had asked them questions about this. The people we spoke with said they could usually get an appointment quite quickly. People said the surgery looked clean when they visited.

However, although the practice had processes in place for cleaning and decontaminating the practice, there were a number of areas where these did not reflect national guidance or were not implemented correctly, which may put people at risk.
