Hopscotch Women’s Centre

Hopscotch Women’s Centre (Hopscotch) is a domiciliary care agency providing care to people in their own homes in the local community. Care is provided to people of all ethnic backgrounds and genders.

This was a comprehensive assessment carried out due to the time since our last inspection. The assessment took place between 24 March 2026 and 8 May 2026. The assessment included a 1 day on site visit and remote evidence gathering.

During our assessment we saw evidence of person-centred care. The service took a strength-based approach to care. This is care planning with a focus on supporting people to continue using their own strengths where able. This meant people were supported to maintain independence.

Improvements were needed to the staff rotas to create consistency for care staff and people using the service.

Staff received training and supervision to enable them to carry out their roles safely. The service actively engaged with additional training such as trauma informed practice. Such training would directly benefit people using the service through staff understanding of how this may impact care needs and preferences.

Partner agencies we spoke with such as healthcare providers, commissioners and others, told us Hopscotch engaged and communicated with them well. They expressed referrals were made in an appropriate and timely way. They told us advice was followed and monitored.

Leaders were active participants in local and pan London safeguarding boards. This meant they had a good understanding of themes and practices relating to safeguarding. We saw evidence that the service learnt from any incidents that occurred within the service as well as those which had taken place at other local services. Such learning was clearly reported and communicated with staff for both prevention and improvement purposes.

We spoke to people and their relatives/friends where they were actively involved in people’s care. Most people told us they felt safe with care staff from Hopscotch.

Some people did not regularly have the same care staff and felt it could improve their care if they did. Those who did see the same regular care staff told us that staff knew them and their needs well.

People told us staff had enough time to carry out tasks without being rushed and were capable and trained to carry out care needed. People said they felt able to raise any complaints or concerns and knew who to contact to do this. A person we spoke with told us they had raised a complaint regarding a covering member of care staff that had been resolved well, “I called the office and told them not to send [them] again. I haven’t seen [them] since so they must have listened.”

A person summarised; “Generally the Carers have been good and I am happy with them. The care is good. They are caring and always asking if I need help with anything else.”
