During a routine inspection

We interviewed three patients and asked for their experiences and opinions. One was a fairly new patient but the other two had been seeing the dentist for a long time. They all said that they were treated with courtesy and respect both by the reception and the clinical staff. One of them said that the reception was always accommodating when it came to making an appointment and was always clear about what treatment was being done. Another patient said that the staff were consistently friendly and polite but they did mention that they had recently had a prolonged course of treatment and although they were clear about it at the beginning they felt some feed back during the course would have helped. They did stress however that this was not a major issue for them.

We reviewed four patients records and saw that people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual treatment plans.

Through discussion with staff and observation we saw that there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. All patients asked thought that the facilities were very clean and comfortable.

Staff had access to training and appraisals demonstrating that people were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

Through review of the patients records and other practice wide records we found that these were all accurate and fit for purpose.
