All Inspections

1 November 2013

During a routine inspection

People were provided with appropriate information about the service. There were leaflets available in the waiting room and all new people were issued with a welcome pack. People we spoke with told us they felt "involved" in decisions about their treatment and were able to make informed decisions.

People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. People were required to complete a medical history questionnaire when they first visited the practice. The dentist reviewed the form as part of the consultation. Existing medical conditions and allergies were highlighted on their records. Medical history forms were updated at every subsequent visit.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. There was a washer disinfector and two autoclaves being used by the practice. We saw records of the checks and maintenance of the equipment, including the daily testing strips and daily printouts from the washer disinfector. Clinical waste was disposed of appropriately.

There was a procedure for recruiting people to the service. People completed an application form and attended an interview.

The provider assessed the quality of the service through client feedback questionnaires, audits and the monitoring of complaints.
