During an assessment under our new approach

Date of Assessment: 25 February to 5 March. Weald Heights is a residential care home providing personal care to people living with dementia and age-related frailties.

People at Weald Heights received an exceptionally caring service from a highly motivated and responsive staff team. This was supported by an outstanding leadership team who put people and their care and support at the heart of everything they did.

Engagement and activities were tailored to suit the needs of people, to match their abilities and to encourage independence and control. Staff and leaders used innovative technology, best practice guidance and evidence-based tools to anticipate needs, health support and comfort. People’s immediate needs.

There was a dedicated and passionate focus on supporting people with dementia that prioritizes each person’s unique needs and preferences. With a focus on maintaining dignity and autonomy, the home created opportunities for social interaction, helping people retain a sense of purpose and connection to their past. Staff members were highly trained in dementia care, demonstrating patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the challenges people living with dementia faced.

Management and staff had a clear vision of the direction and standards that wanted to see at the home. The management team worked hard to ensure that care and support continuously improved and that people experienced a better quality of life. Robust quality assurance systems ensured that quality care was maintained, while research, best practice tools, innovation all contributed to an ethos of continuous improvement. The provider had established outstanding links to other care organisations and health partners to ensure that people received clinical and effective social care support that met their needs.
