Our view of the service

This assessment took place between 28 April to 11 May 2026. This service is a care home providing personal care to up to 4 people who may be living with dementia or have mental health needs. At the time of our assessment, there were 4 people using the service.

Systems were in place to protect people from risk of abuse. Risks to people’s safety and wellbeing were managed effectively. Staff received appropriate training and support to develop in their roles and deliver safe, effective, high-quality care. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. They worked well with each other and others involved in people’s care so that people experienced consistent and continuous support. Recruitment processes were robust and only suitable staff were employed to work at the service. Infection control practices were maintained effectively.

People were involved in assessing their needs and received person-centred care. People’s care was reviewed regularly to ensure this remained effective and achieving positive outcomes.

People were supported to maintain their health and wellbeing and received their medicines when they needed them. Staff supported people to understand their care so they could give informed consent.

People were supported to have choice and control over their care and support and to maintain their independence. Information was provided in ways that reflected people’s needs and preferences. People were treated with fairness and equality and were supported to access care and support when needed.

The service was led by a registered manager who understood people’s needs and promoted an open culture where concerns could be raised and addressed. Governance systems helped to identify and address any shortfalls at the service. The registered manager ensured the service was focussed on learning, inclusion and partnership working which helped drive continuous improvement.

People's experience of this service

People were safe at the service. They had no concerns about the care and support they received. A person told us, “I’m all fine. I get everything I need.” A relative said, “The standard of care is very good, and they are very attentive to people and their needs.” A healthcare professional told us, “From my observation, the service provides safe and high-quality care.”

We used a structured observation tool to assess whether people received good care. This approach showed people were included and listened to, and staff consistently interacted positively with them. Staff treated people with kindness, care, dignity and respect. They were focussed on providing person-centred care to people that reflected their choices, wishes and preferences. People were supported to maintain relationships with the people that mattered to them. Their family and friends faced no restrictions maintaining close contact and were made to feel welcome when visiting the service. People’s health and wellbeing was monitored to ensure they were experiencing effective outcomes. People and their family and friends were encouraged to give feedback and raise concerns, and the registered manager responded positively, making improvements when needed.
