Updated 20 June 2025
We undertook an assessment of Hamberley Neurocare (Camberley) Ltd between 17 to 25 July 2025. We visited the service on 17 and 22 July 2025. Hamberley Neurocare (Camberley) Ltd provides specialist neurological rehabilitation care. The service supports adults of all ages living with complex neurological conditions, brain and spinal injuries, stroke, early-onset dementia and progressive neurological conditions. The service can support up to 60 people. At the time of our inspection, there were 8 people using the service. The service was registered in September 2024.
The inspection was prompted in part by notification of a serious allegation involving a member of staff. This was being investigated by the police and the local authority’s safeguarding team. As a result, this inspection did not examine the circumstances of the allegations. However, we reviewed systems the provider had in place to monitor risk.
Although people received their medicines as prescribed, we found some shortfalls in the management of medicines. However, the provider took prompt action to rectify the shortfalls and sent us their action plan in a timely manner. The provider’s monitoring systems were in place and mostly effective. However, medicines audits had not identified and addressed the shortfalls we found in relation to medicines management.
There were good systems to protect people from the risk of infection and cross contamination and staff followed good practice. The service was clean, fresh and well-maintained. There were systems in place for the safe recruitment of staff. People and their relatives were involved in their pre-admission assessment, care planning and the management of individual risks. Staff received regular training and had their competencies checked. Staff spoke favourably of the management team and felt listened to and consulted.
