Date of assessment: 17 March to 02 April 2026. Homecare For You Solihull is a homecare agency registered to provide personal care to people in their own homes. At the time of the assessment there were 37 people receiving the regulated activity personal care. The service had not previously been assessed or rated, so we completed a comprehensive assessment covering all 5 key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The provider promoted an open and proactive safety culture, and managers had improved incident reporting through targeted support to enable better analysis and learning. Staff understood safeguarding and reporting procedures and the provider had contingency plans in place for emergencies and digital failures.

The provider assessed and regularly reviewed people’s health, wellbeing and communication needs, involving people and their relatives in care planning. They worked well with other professionals and agencies to support transitions and provide joined‑up care, and people and relatives said the office team were easy to contact. Staff supported people to improve their independence.

Staff treated people with kindness, dignity and respect and knew people’s preferences. Staff well-being was also prioritised.

Care was well-coordinated, with consistent staffing and rotas arranged around people’s preferences. Communication needs were recorded and people and relatives had opportunities to share feedback.

Staff spoke positively about the supportive culture and staff felt able to speak up. Governance systems had been strengthened but had not identified some of the concerns we found on inspection. The management team were responsive to learning, development and improvement across the service.

However, risk management required improvement and recruitment records contained some gaps. Medicines management needed strengthening to ensure all guidance and time‑specific administration were accurately recorded and followed. The management team also needed to improve their knowledge around mental capacity.

Feedback from people and relatives about the care and support they received was mostly positive. People felt safe receiving care and support in their own homes, and most people and relatives thought care staff were well trained. Relatives told us management were approachable and should they raise concerns, they would be acted upon. They were also given opportunities to share feedback. While one person said, “Some are very compassionate and caring but not all of them.” Most people and relatives said staff were kind and caring and they would recommend the service to others.
