Pinetree Care Home is a residential care home providing accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care with capacity for up to 60 people.There were 50 people living at Pinetree Care Home at the time of our assessment. The service provides care to older people. This was the first assessment for this service. This was a fully comprehensive assessment, and we looked at all 5 key questions.

Governance systems in place were robust. The provider ensured regular audits were being carried out and were in place to help ensure people’s safety and wellbeing was maintained. Care plans and risk assessments were being assessed and routinely reviewed and people were involved in their care planning.

People received person-centred care and the provider promoted a person-centred culture. Staff treated people with respect and promoted people’s independence and dignity.

The provider ensured equipment was serviced regularly and environmental checks were completed. The home was well maintained and clean. We found no concerns around medication administration and people received their medications as prescribed.

The staff team were supported by a responsive and open management team and feedback we received told us the registered manager was proactive and promoted an open culture. Staff felt able to raise any concerns.

Feedback about Pinetree Care Home was overwhelmingly positive for the care and support people received. People and their relatives told us they felt safe and happy at Pinetree Care Home. One person told us, “Staff are very nice and the staff are kind.”

Relatives told us they felt the provider was responsive to their relative's needs. One relative told us that the provider had taken quick action to resolve some issues when their relative first moved into Pinetree Care Home and were very happy with the admissions process.

We used a structured observation tool to assess whether they received good care which helped us to assess if people were being included and listened to and how staff interacted with them. Staff were attentive to people’s needs.

People and their relatives told us they felt able to raise any concerns and complaints were dealt with quickly and that management were approachable and responsive. Comments included, “I genuinely feel listened too and heard” and “Staff are good at communicating with [relative] and the family and providing emotional support.”
