Our view of the service

Date of the assessment: 30 June to 3 July 2026.

This was the first assessment of the service which was registered with CQC on 29 July 2024. The service has been rated good.

This service provides care and support to people living in ‘supported living’ settings, so they can live as independently as possible. People’s care and housing are provided under separate contractual agreements. CQC does not regulate premises used for supported living. This assessment looked at people’s personal care and support.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The provider was following this guidance. They supported people to learn skills, develop their independence and to engage in activities in the local community. Staff understood how individual people communicated and found ways to ensure they could understand and make choices. Staff completed training to help them understand about best practice for supporting people with a learning disability.

People were safely cared for. There were enough staff who were well trained and had the information they needed to support people in a safe way. Staff worked with other professionals to assess, plan for and monitor risks to people’s safety and wellbeing.

There were appropriate systems for responding to complaints, accidents, incidents and safeguarding concerns. Staff understood these. The provider worked with relatives and external professionals to help make sure people were not deprived of their liberty and decisions about their care were made in their best interests and were lawful.

Staff assessed and planned for people’s needs. They monitored their wellbeing and adjusted care in response to changes in people’s needs or wishes. Staff worked with other professionals to assess and meet people’s healthcare needs and to ensure they received the right medicines.

Staff were kind, responsive and knew people well. People were supported to make choices. Staff felt well supported and enjoyed working at the service.

People and their relatives had information about the service and were encouraged to speak up. They had regular contact with the registered manager. There were effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service.

People's experience of this service

People had a good experience of the service. They were comfortable and happy. People had good relationships with staff. They were cared for by familiar staff who knew them well. People were safe because staff understood their needs and followed best practice for supporting people with a learning disability. People received their medicines safely and as prescribed. People were empowered to understand about their medicines and individual needs.

Staff offered people choices. They used a range of different techniques to ensure people understood information and could make informed choices. People did not use words or used few words to communicate. However, staff understood how people expressed themselves. They were quick to pick up on clues to how people were feeling and offered them the right support. We saw staff treating people well and responding to their needs and wishes.

Relatives were happy with the care that was provided. They told us people’s needs were met and they had seen improvements in their wellbeing and range of social activities. They liked the staff and the registered manager. They found them approachable and responsive. Comments from relatives included, “Staff are amazing and are doing their best”, “[Registered manager] is excellent” and “They take concerns onboard and we see improvements.”

Professionals working with the service explained people were safe, well cared for and given opportunities to develop skills and pursue individual interests.
