During an inspection looking at part of the service

We haven't spoken with people using the service on this visit because we spoke with them at the first inspection on 01 June 2012 and found they people were happy with the service provided. The issues requiring a follow up inspection were environment issues, which were viewed by the inspector to reach a judgement.

We found that the improvements measures taken by the provider ensured people who used the service, staff and visitors were protected against the risks of unsafe or unsuitable premises. We saw improvements had been made to the interior of the Dental Practice treatment rooms and storage areas, and the hand-wash sink had been relocated to an area near to the toilet area. We saw additional improvements had been made to ensure that the area where the boiler was located was made safe, and a plumbing firm had visited and carried out a risk assessment to ensure this area was safe from fire hazards.

During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with some people who used the service. They told us that they were very pleased with the dental service they received. They told us that their dentist went through all the options with them and helped them to decide the best course of treatment for them. One patient said: 'The dentists are very professional and always asked for my consent before starting treatment.' Another patient said: 'I trust the dentists here and many of my family come here also.'

They said they felt very comfortable and safe with the staff, and that the practice was always kept clean and tidy. Some patients told us that they had used the practice for many years and would continue to do so as the dentist was excellent. All of the people we spoke with said they were very happy to continue to use the service.
