Our view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 4 March 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage most risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation although improvements could be made to ensure that all appropriate checks are completed prior to new staff commencing employment at the practice.

There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Queensbury Dental Practice is in Dunstable, Bedfordshire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available near the practice.

The practice had 4 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 17 staff, of which there was the principal dentist, 5 associate dentists (including a foundation dentist), 7 dental nurses (one of whom was acting practice manager), 2 dental hygienists, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 3 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, the receptionist and the acting practice manager.

The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 16 patients. On the day of our inspection, we saw patient feedback from a further 11 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.

Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.

Comments included, “Amazing dental practice. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Very efficient and practice is always clean. Have always recommended this practice to family and friends.”

Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.

Comments included, “It's a great dentist you feel more of a patient here as opposed to feeling like statistic. The staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating best dental practice I have been to since ever.”

Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.

One patient told us, “Absolutely amazing dental practice. Friendly reception staff who go over and above to be friendly and helpful. They always make you feel like you’re important to them. I have observed them deal with large families and a difficult prospective patient with patience and empathy. My dentist explains everything he is going to do and the cost. Sets realistic expectations and just guides and helps you achieve your end result.”

Patients said when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
