The Thatched House Dental Practice

Inspection carried out on 17 July 2013

During a routine inspection

People who use the service understood the care and treatment choices available to them. The dentists told us they would ask all patients why they had attended the surgery and then discuss different treatment options with them. They said they used intra oral cameras to show patients exactly what was causing the problem.

One person said the dentist gives clear, straight forward information especially about what the treatment will cost me.

Other comments included Ive been coming here for fifteen years because the dentists give good care and sometimes appointments run over but I dont mind waiting as theyre the best dentists Ive had.

People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment. We found the reception area, waiting area and treatment rooms in clean and hygienic condition.

Patients we spoke to said the surgery is always very clean and its very hygienic here, everything is always clean and tidy.

There was evidence that staff were supported in their work. We saw the practice had an induction policy and procedure. Staff told us their induction included emergency procedures, infection control, child protection and shadowing other staff for one week.

Peoples personal records including medical records were accurate and fit for purpose.
