During a routine inspection

We inspected both of Dr Birakji's registered locations on the same day. We spoke with one patient, who said that they were given adequate information about the service so that they could make decisions about their treatment. They said the clinic was clean. There were positive comments about the service in the last completed report of people’s satisfaction surveys from October 2012. For example, one person said they were "very satisfied" and another said “extremely good dentist”.

The PCT also sought feedback from people using its own processes and we saw that the majority of people who responded were satisfied with the service provided at 168 Dental Clinic.

There were suitable recruitment and employment processes in place and staff were supported by the provider's systems and policies. There were processes to assess each person's suitability prior to any treatment. There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Staff had been trained in infection control and for emergency situations.

There was evidence of continuing professional development, supervision and appraisal for all staff at the practice. The provider had systems to review and monitor the complaints process. This was in conjunction with the formal contract monitoring of the service by the PCT.
