Mickleboro Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 8 people who have primarily mental health needs. The service was registered with CQC on 10 July 2024, and this is the first inspection since registration. We therefore looked at all Quality Statements within the 5 key questions of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. We carried out an unannounced site visit to the service on 28 July 2025, at the time there were 7 people living at Mickleboro Lodge.
The overall rating for this service is Good. We found significant improvement in all aspects of the service and outcomes for people using the service since a change in the provider. At the time of inspection, the service currently had no registered manager. The provider was currently managing the service until a manager was recruited. In addition to the provider, the service had inclusive leaders who had the skills, knowledge, experience and credibility to lead effectively. The provider had worked hard at building trust between the leadership team and staff to improve outcomes for people and staff. The provider cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff and staff told us they enjoyed their roles. Staff told us they felt valued and supported in their roles, including through specialist training, supervisions and team meetings. There was a good learning culture in which incidents were thoroughly investigated and learnt from to improve the service. Staff managed medicines well. The provider, leaders and staff worked well in partnership with other professionals to deliver good outcomes to people.
