Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 9 September 2026. Wentworth Court Care Home is registered to provide accommodation, nursing and personal care to up to 65 older people and people living with a diagnosis of dementia. At the time of our inspection, there were 58 people receiving support at the service. There was a registered manager in post at the time of the inspection.

At our previous assessment conducted between 18 March 2026 to 2 April 2026, we rated the service requires improvement overall and served 2 Warning Notices in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. We conducted this assessment to follow up on the Warning Notices and to check whether improvements had been made. We found the Warning Notices had been met, and improvements had been made.

During the assessment, we visited the service and reviewed the medicines records of 8 people, including care plans and medicines administration records. We also looked at medicines audits, policies and training records. We spoke with staff and managers.

The provider had now developed a proactive and positive culture of safety and implemented an effective system to analyse lessons learned and continually identify and embed good practice.

Care plans now contained key information regarding the management of risk, and the provider had made improvements to the documentation and recording of incidents where people had experienced distress. Whilst more time was needed for these improvements to be fully embedded, the improvements were evident.

The provider had made improvements to the way medicines were managed in the home. We saw significant progress, and the registered manager was working towards ensuring that the new systems were fully embedded alongside ongoing developments.

Leaders now demonstrated a good knowledge and understanding of the issues and priorities within the service, and oversight and governance had improved.

People's experience of this service

At our last assessment, people and their relatives were mostly positive about the quality of their care. They felt safe and told us they were involved in planning their care. Relatives told us their loved ones received high-quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals.

At this assessment, people now benefitted from a service which had improved governance and a greater oversight of people’s outcomes and the support they required to keep them safe.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected people’s privacy and dignity and treated them as individuals. We saw examples where people had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends.
