During an assessment under our new approach
Dates of assessment were from 22 October to 19 November 2025. This was the first assessment for this newly registered service and included visits to the service on 22 October and 7 November 2025. Fleetwood Heights is a care home providing nursing and personal care for up to 72 adults, some of whom may be living with dementia or have physical disabilities. At the time of our assessment there were 16 people living at the service.
Medicines were not always managed safely, and care records were not always accurate or reflective of people’s needs. While staffing levels were generally sufficient, there was inconsistency in staff deployment and communication. Governance systems had identified some of these issues however, improvements were not fully embedded.
The service had experienced management changes at service and executive level since the provider registered. The service closed for a short period of time and re-opened in April 2025. A new manager had started in post a few weeks prior to the assessment and had applied for registration with CQC. Recruitment for a deputy manager was ongoing. Senior management provided on-site support.
Robust pre-admission processes were in place to ensure staff were able to meet people’s needs. Staff knew people well and treated them with kindness, respect and compassion. The service worked closely with healthcare professionals to ensure people’s needs were being met in a timely and coordinated way. The environment was spacious, bright and maintained to a high standard. Rooms were personalised, promoting individuality. Good standards of hygiene and cleanliness were maintained.
We identified 1 breach of regulation relating to the way medicines were managed. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concern found at this assessment.
