Our current view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 21 May 2025.
We found the practice had met regulations.
Infection control procedures in place were effective.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.
C M Desai Limited is in Rushey Mead, Leicestershire and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 7 staff, of which there were 2 dentists, 1 foundation dentist and 4 dental nurses. We gathered feedback and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist and 2 dental nurses.

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 37 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included, “Brilliant dental practice, I have been with them for years, never a concern. Always takes time to deal with my issues and work done properly.” Also, “We have been going to C M Desai for around 8 years now and the service has been excellent every time. The dentist is always friendly and approachable with my children - putting them at ease. Waiting times are minimal and the service is professional and consistent. Thank you.”
Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Comments included, “Extremely clean and organised and provides timely service, super helpful. The receptionists, dental nurses and dentists are all friendly and take good care of their patients.”
Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Comments included, “We as a family of 5 are extremely happy with this surgery. We have been attending regularly for the past 15 years and from my children to my husband and myself, the surgery has met all of our needs. The wait time is great too as you never waiting for too long.”
Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care. Comments included, “Prompt service, on time with a smile. Treatment was explained properly before continuing and was done properly.”
Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
Patients told us that they were supported to maintain their oral health and were provided with appropriate information and resources.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
