During an assessment under our new approach

Mile Oak Rest Home is a residential care home providing personal care to older people, including those living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 19 people living in the care home. This is the first assessment for this service since the new provider was registered 4 July 2024. The assessment focused on whether the service under the new provider provided safe, effective, caring, responsive and well‑led care.
The home had a manager in post who was currently going through registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
People were protected from the risks of abuse and staff were trusted to keep them safe.
Staff spoke positively of their work and felt supported by the management team. The home was clean, tidy and welcoming, and people were protected against the risk of infection by safe systems and good standards.
People were supported to receive safe support from a consistent staff team who knew people well and supported them positively. Staff had positive relationships with people and supported them in a kind and caring manner.
The provider planned and delivered people’s care and treatment with them, including what was important and mattered to them.
Governance structures included regular audit reviews and open communication channels with people, relatives and staff. Managers were accessible and engaged. They promoted a culture of openness and were very responsive to feedback.
