Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, “What stands out most about the entire team is that they genuinely care. They do not simply provide treatment; they build relationships with patients and make them feel valued as individuals. After nearly three decades as a patient, I genuinely feel more like a member of the Total Dental Care family than simply someone attending appointments.”

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. Comments included, “One of the qualities I value most is [clinician’s] positivity and compassion. No matter how challenging my situation feels, he always greets me with a smile and a joke and somehow manages to keep me optimistic even on my most difficult days. That emotional support may seem like a small thing, but when facing extensive treatment over a prolonged period, it makes a tremendous difference.”

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate. Comments included, “Despite the complexity of my treatment, every procedure has been carried out with the highest levels of professionalism, expertise, cleanliness, and attention to detail. Major dental surgery can be an incredibly daunting experience, but I have always felt safe and well cared for under [clinician’s] treatment. He and his team work tirelessly to ensure that patients feel comfortable, informed, and reassured throughout every stage of treatment.”

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.

We were provided with a patient survey which showed positive results.

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported.
