Kindness, compassion and dignity
The provider always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.
Staff demonstrated respectful and compassionate interactions aligned with the person’s preferences. One person told us, “Staff are so kind and caring. They protect my privacy and dignity in every way possible.”
Treating people as individuals
The provider treated people as individuals and made sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. They took account of people’s strengths, abilities, aspirations, culture and unique backgrounds and protected characteristics.
People were treated as individuals and supported in ways that respected their preferences and relationships. Staff encouraged positive communication and meaningful interaction. One person told us, “We speak to each other.”
Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
Care plans included detailed ‘What’s important to me’, communication guidance and ‘please do and please don’t’ sections, which supported staff to provide respectful and person-centred care. Daily records confirmed that staff followed these approaches in practice, enabling people to remain central to decisions about their care.
Feedback from a person’s next of kin stated that care was always of a very high standard, carers were friendly, kind and professional, and the person always felt safe. No negative feedback had been received.
Responding to people’s immediate needs
The provider listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. Staff responded to people’s needs in the moment and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress.
One person told us, “Immediately,” when asked how quickly their needs, views and wishes were listened to. This demonstrated that staff were responsive and attentive, supporting people to feel heard, respected and reassured.
Workforce wellbeing and enablement
The provider cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff and supported and enabled staff to always deliver person-centred care.
Staff told us they felt valued, safe and listened to. One member of staff told us, “Yes, I feel valued at work,” and “My wellbeing is fully supported.”
