During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

At the time of our inspection dated 19 November 2012 people who used the service said they were reliably receiving the medical treatment, counselling services and key worker support they needed to manage and recover from substance misuse issues. We found that the provider respected people's dignity and individuality and that it delivered treatment and support services in line with national guidance. We also found that staff had the skills and knowledge they needed to support people effectively. Records showed that the provider was quality assuring most aspects of the service being delivered. However, there were shortfalls in the security checks completed on some staff that reduced the reassurance that people would be safeguarded from abuse. At the time our desk based follow up inspection dated 28 January 2013 we noted that these shortfalls had been resolved and no longer constituted a risk that people would not be kept safe.

During a routine inspection

People who use the service said that staff treated them with respect and involved them in making decisions about their care. They said that they received the medical treatment, counselling and support they needed.

All of the five people with whom we spoke gave us positive feedback about the service. One person said, 'I've had a lot of help from the service to get off drugs and have a better life. The staff know what they're on about and they understand my problems and what I can do to help myself.'
