The assessment was conducted remotely between 01 June to 15 June 2026. Thompson Amour Limited T/A Heritage Healthcare North Tyneside is a domiciliary care agency registered to provide personal care to people in their own homes.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) only inspects services where personal care is provided this includes assistance with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where applicable, any wider social care provided is also considered. At the time of assessment, the service was supporting 21 people. This is the first rating of the service.

The provider had 2 managers registered with the Care Quality Commission, both of whom were also the providers, ensuring they were legally accountable for the operation of the service and the quality and safety of care delivered.

People were protected from abuse and avoidable harm through clear and embedded systems to identify, assess and manage risk. Safeguarding processes were well understood by staff and supported by a positive learning culture, where incidents, feedback and audits were used to continuously improve practice.

Staff were recruited safely, with appropriate checks completed prior to employment to ensure suitability for the role. Once in post, staff received a comprehensive induction, including mandatory training and a structured period of shadowing, before working independently. Ongoing training, supervision and competency assessments were in place to support staff to maintain safe and effective practice. Staff demonstrated confidence in their roles and a clear understanding of how to deliver care safely.

Care was based on comprehensive assessments and regularly reviewed to reflect people’s changing needs. Staff used their knowledge and training to monitor people’s health and wellbeing, recognising changes and responding appropriately. Where required, the service worked in partnership with healthcare professionals to ensure people received coordinated and effective care.

People were treated with kindness, compassion and respect. Staff demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining dignity and promoting independence, supporting people to make choices and remain in control of their lives. Care was consistently person-centred, with support tailored to reflect individual preferences, routines and what mattered most to each person.

The service was responsive to people’s needs, with care adapted to reflect changes and individual circumstances. People and their families were involved in decisions about care and felt listened to. Communication systems supported continuity and ensured staff had access to up-to-date information.

Leadership within the service was supportive and visible, creating a positive working environment where staff felt valued and able to raise concerns. The provider demonstrated a commitment to supporting staff wellbeing and development, which contributed to a stable and confident workforce.

People's experience of the service

People and their relatives told us they were treated with kindness and dignity. Feedback described staff as caring, respectful and attentive to individual needs. One relative told us, “All the carers are compassionate and treat my dad with dignity,” while another said, “They speak to my mam with respect and make her feel comfortable.” This reflected a consistent approach where people were valued and their privacy and dignity were maintained.

People and their relatives told us that staff knew them well and provided personalised care. They described how staff took time to understand individual preferences and routines. One person said, “They do what I want.” A relative explained, “They really know [person] and what she likes and doesn’t like,” and another commented, “It’s not just basic care, they take time to understand him as a person.”

People and their relatives told us that staff promoted independence and choice. They described how staff encouraged people to remain involved in their daily routines and supported them to do as much as possible for themselves. One relative told us, “They let him do things for himself and help when he needs it,” and another said, “They always ask what she wants and involve her in everything.”

People and their relatives told us staff were reliable, responsive and attentive to their needs. They described staff as punctual and quick to respond when support was required. One person said, “Yes they are on time.” One relative explained, “They are always on time and notice straight away if something isn’t right,” while another said, “They act quickly if anything changes and keep us informed.”
