Compass Care Derbyshire Ltd provides personal care for adults of all ages who may have dementia, sensory impairments, or physical disabilities. We gave the provider notice of our inspection because we needed to ensure the registered manager would be available to meet with the inspector.
A learning culture was evident, and people felt they could raise concerns and the staff and management would listen. There were enough staff with the right skills, knowledge and experience to meet people’s needs. Consistent staff were allocated, which meant they were able to provide flexible, individual care using a person-centred approach. Medicines were administered safely and in line with prescriptions and these were regularly reviewed.
People were involved in agreeing the level of care and support they would receive when they started to use the service. People had choices about how they wanted their day-to-day care delivered and staff respected their decisions. People’s care and support reflected their choices, preferences, personalities, needs and individuality. Care records contained detailed person-centred guidance that enabled staff to respond to people’s individual preferences. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice.
People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff treated people as individuals and supported their preferences. Staff supported the person to stay healthy and respected their rights to make their own decisions and choices.
