Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 25 and 26 August 2026. The service is a residential service, providing support to older people and people living with dementia. We completed this assessment due to the length of time since we last assessed and rated the service.
People received care which reflected their risks and needs. Staffing levels were appropriate to keep people safe and meet their needs. Risks to people’s health and wellbeing were managed safely and appropriate action was taken when accidents and incidents occurred. Specialist support was arranged when needed to ensure people’s needs were met. People’s medicines were managed safely, in line with national guidance. The home was clean and infection control practices reflected good practice. Regular checks were completed to ensure the safety of equipment and the premises.
People’s needs were assessed when they came to live at the service and were reviewed regularly to ensure their care and support remained safe and appropriate. People’s health and wellbeing were monitored, and any changes were identified and responded to promptly. When people needed specialist support with their healthcare needs to remain well, this was arranged. Management and staff worked well with partner agencies to ensure people received the support necessary to meet their needs.
Staff were kind and respectful. They treated people as individuals, promoted their independence and provided them with care, support and reassurance when they needed it. Staff respected people’s privacy and dignity and encouraged them to make decisions about their care when they could. Events and activities took place regularly and people were encouraged to take part.
People’s care needs were discussed with them or their relatives to ensure the support they received reflected their needs and what was important to them. Staff provided people with person-centred care which reflected what they wanted and needed. People were listened to and joint decisions were made with them about managing any changes in their needs. Staff assessed people’s communication needs and provided them with information in an accessibleformat. End of life care wishes were discussed with people to ensure they received the support they wanted at the end of their life.
The provider’s aim was to provide people with high-quality care and the registered manager and staff worked hard to achieve this aim. They ensure people received individualised care which reflected their needs, wishes and kept them safe. The registered manager had the knowledge, skills and experience to manage the service well and people and relatives were happy with how the service was managed. People, relatives and staff found the registered manager approachable, helpful and supportive. They felt able to raise concerns or make suggestions and were confident they would be listened to. Staff felt valued and told us they were supported well. Checks of quality and safety were completed regularly and ensured appropriate standards of quality and safety were maintained.
