During an assessment under our new approach

Date of Assessment: 21 May to 2 June 2026.

Haddon House Care Home is a nursing home providing regulated activity to adults over the age of 65 and people living with dementia. The service is registered to provide care for up to 30 people. At the time of our inspection 18 people were using the service. This is the first inspection of this service following a change of provider in June 2024. We found the provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, and ensured care was provided in a safe and consistent way. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s needs and people received timely care and support. The provider had robust systems in place to ensure safeguarding incidents were promptly investigated and reported. Risks which affected people's daily lives, were documented and known by staff. We identified some recording issues in relation to medicines and wound management. However, these had not impacted on people’s safety or wellbeing. The registered manager had also identified these concerns and was able to evidence the actions being taken to address them. The provider ensured systems were in place to ensure people’s long term health conditions and medicines were regularly reviewed by external professionals. Staff worked in partnership with a range of health professionals to ensure people received consistent and co-ordinated support. The provider told people about their rights around consent and respected these when delivering person-centred care and treatment. Staff were knowledgeable on how people liked to be cared for. We found arrangements were in place to ensure people could pursue their interests and beliefs. People were supported to maintain their independence. We found appropriate equipment and aids were in place to enable people to do this safely while promoting choice and control. The provider made it easy for people to share feedback and ideas, or raise complaints about their care, treatment and support and staff understood their responsibilities to ensure people received an equitable service. We found a positive culture within the service that focused on delivering person-centred care and support. Staff demonstrated a clear commitment to understanding and meeting people’s individual needs, preferences, and choices. The registered manager demonstrated effective oversight of the service through systems which ensured regular audits were undertaken to drive continuous improvement.
