We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 12 May 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is known locally as Bax Dental and is in Macclesfield. The practice provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 20. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

During our visit to the practice we spoke with five patients who had appointments that day. They were all very positive about the service provided. They told us staff are pleasant, helpful and considerate. For example, one patient said, 'All the staff are friendly and kind. I actually enjoy coming to the dentist'. Another patient said, 'Staff make you feel at home and are considerate'. And another said, 'I am a bit nervous coming to the dentist, but everything is explained and talked through which helps me'.

All the patients said they had enough information about the services and treatment provided. They told us they got appointments at convenient times and generally they did not have to wait too long. One patient said, 'If they are running late they will let us know'. Another said, 'I recently needed an urgent appointment and I was fitted in straight away at a time that suited me'.

The five patients we spoke to said they were happy with the care and treatment they receive and have confidence in the skills and experience of staff. For example, one patient said, 'It is excellent here. I feel confident about the treatment I receive and if I have a problem staff will sort things out for me'.

Patients also told us that treatment options and plans were fully explained to them including what to expect, the risks and benefits and the costs. One patient said, 'I am always given good advice'. Another said, 'Everything was explained in plain English'.

All the patients told us they had had their medical history taken and this information was regularly updated when they came for check-ups or treatments.
