Aberdeen House Dental Practice

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 8 April 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice had systems to manage risks, including infection prevention and control. However, leadership arrangements were not consistently effective, and not all risks associated with the delivery of regulated activities had been suitably identified, assessed and mitigated.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation but were not consistently being followed.

Staff training was not all up-to-date or reviewed at regular intervals.

Staff treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required. However, care and treatment were not always provided in line with current guidance.

Staff did not always manage medicines and prescriptions in line with current guidance.

The practice is in Grayshott and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice is on the first floor and accessed via a flight of stairs. Car parking spaces are available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 4 staff, of which there were a dentist, 2 dental nurses who also covered reception duties, and a dental hygienist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including the dentist, and the dental nurses.

The provider was not complying with Regulation 12 Safe care and treatment, and Regulation 17 Good governance. Full details of the regulations the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 5 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, “The surgery is clean, modern, and well-organised.” “Great practice, friendly staff.” “The dentist is incredibly thorough, taking his time to explain everything clearly and answer all my questions without rushing.” “They have always been excellent. Putting my mind at rest, clearly explaining, providing an efficient, responsive and professional service at all times.” Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
