EVHM LLP – 24 Tower Road West is a small residential care home providing personal care and support for up to 6 people. The service specialised in the care of people with a learning disability and autistic people.
This assessment was carried out between 1 July and 10 July 2026. We visited the service on 1 and 6 July. At the time of the assessment there were 5 people living at the service. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
Although the service has been operational for several years, within the last two years the service was registered under a new provider name. This meant that the service no longer had a rating. This assessment was therefore required for the service to receive a rating.
The home learned from incidents and made improvements where needed. Some improvements were needed in relation to recording of incidents to make sure they were detailed including all required information.
The home was responsive to people’s changing needs and when additional training was required, the manager endeavoured to make this happen. People’s medicines were managed safely. The service was kept clean and tidy and there were good procedures for infection control.
There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and when additional support in an emergency situation was needed, this was provided promptly. There was a low staff turnover. This meant staff knew people well and were able to respond quickly to their needs. Staff told us they liked working at the home and they valued the support they received from the manager and deputy manager.
Staff sought appropriate professional advice and support when needed to ensure people’s health and wellbeing was maintained. Quality assurance assessments were used to review the performance of the home and to make improvements when needed.
