During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 19 August 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks and recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. The dental clinic appeared clean and infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Glow Dentistry Hampstead is in Hampstead, in the London Borough of Camden and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice through the use of a portable ramp. The practice had 4 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, 2 associate dentists, 2 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and the practice manager.

During a routine inspection

We found a clean, well maintained and well run practice that used technology to improve patients care and treatment.

Patients attending the service at the time of the inspection did not wish to speak with us. We have therefore used the provider's feedback information to reflect their views. Patient feedback suggested they were happy with the service provided. They felt they were given enough information about their treatment options as well as the fee scales and had no hesitation in asking any question in relation to their treatment or cost.

Our inspection found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. Patients were treated with respect and dignity. Consultations took place within private surgeries where privacy and confidentiality were ensured.

Patients were able to make comments about their experience via e mail and were positively encouraged to do so. We observed that patients completed a medical history at their first visit and prior to any consultation or treatment with the dentist. We also observed medical histories being updated for several patients. Consent forms were signed before any treatment was commenced.
