All Inspections

During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 5 May 2026.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

The practice is in Poole, Dorset and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children and has a small NHS contract.

There was step-free access to the practice via a removable ramp, and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 3 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 11 staff, of which there were 3 dentists, 6 dental nurses and 2 dental hygienists. The nursing team share receptionist duties. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 3 dental nurses, and 1 dental hygienist.

During a routine inspection

At this announced inspection we spoke with four patients who used the practice for their dental treatment. They all told us they were satisfied with the dental treatment they received and found the staff to be helpful and supportive. One individual we spoke with told us, 'The dentist is excellent'. Another patient said staff were, 'Very helpful and good'. We also spoke with four members of staff including the registered manager who was a dentist at the practice.

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. Patients told us they could express their views and make informed decisions about their treatment.

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. A member of staff we spoke with told us, 'We try to look after our patients really well', and another member of staff said, 'Our main aim is to be a caring practice'.

There were procedures in place to clean and sterilise dental equipment to minimise the risk of patients getting an infection and staff had received regular training to prevent the risk of infection.

The provider had an effective system in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. There were also systems to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service and others.

31 January 2012

During a routine inspection

We were only able to speak with two patients during our inspection visit to the Parkstone Dental Practice on 31 January 2012. The registered provider/owner told us that it was a 'quiet day'.

One person we spoke with had been attending the practice for about eight years. The other person had attended their for first treatment following their first visit to the practice the previous week. Both people told us that that they were 'very happy' with their treatment and the practice in general. They said that they did not have to wait long for appointments. They told us that they had been fully involved in discussions about the treatment they received. They said they thought that the staff were polite and respectful and that the premises were clean. One person told us that the practice always rang them to remind them about their appointments.
