All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Due to the complex needs of the person using the service, they were unable to tell us about their experiences of the care and support they received. To address this issue, we used a variety of other methods. We spoke with the manager and staff and examined documentation pertaining to customer satisfaction.

We saw that people's consent was obtained where possible before care and treatment was undertaken. We observed that the care given was safe and appropriate and based on effective care planning and risk assessments. This meant that people's individual needs were met and preferences were taken into account.

People were protected from abuse and cared for in a safe and inclusive environment. There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. We also found that the provider had an effective system in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.

During a routine inspection

The manager of the service informed us that the person that used the service was unable to speak with us due to the nature of their illness and that they had no immediate family available to contact. We used other methods to assist us in considering how the service was meeting the needs of its user. We saw that staff assessed and recorded information about this person's needs, which enabled staff to plan and deliver the required level of care and support on a continuous basis.

Staff treated the person using the service with dignity and respect. They were also knowledgeable about the safety and welfare of people and how to protect them from harm. Staff told us that they had received regular training and that they felt that they were supported to carry out their roles and meet the needs of people who used the service.

We saw that regular audits of the service were completed by the provider ensuring that people who used the service benefitted from a service that monitored the quality of care that people received.

We saw written evidence from people that had previously used the service and their families stating that "things are going swimmingly" and "the staff are wonderful."
