During a routine inspection

We did not speak directly to any patients during this visit, but were able to obtain their views of the service by looking at their comments in satisfaction questionnaires completed in March/April 2013. Patients had written that they were satisfied with the waiting times in the surgery and the quality of the care they received. Patients also commented that they felt the information given to them by the dentist on their treatment options was very good and they had the opportunity to ask the dentist any questions they might have about their care.

We found the environment to be clean, tidy and organised. We saw there were appropriate policies and procedures in place for the control of infection.

We saw that staff were able to access training as and when they needed to and received annual appraisals of their work performance. Staff had received training about child protection and protecting vulnerable adults and could tell us who they would contact if they were concerned about abuse of patients.

The provider had an effective quality assurance system in place and people's views and opinions of the service were listened to and acted on where necessary.The information in the satisfaction questionnaires indicated that patients were confident that if they did have any concerns they would be able to raise them and they would be dealt with appropriately.
