During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 29 April 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Infection control procedures in place were effective.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our inspection, could access care, support and treatment when required.

The practice, known locally as Thornley Park Dental Practice and is in Denton, Greater Manchester and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice. The practice had 4 treatment rooms. The total number of staff was 18.During the inspection we spoke with 3 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who used the service. They told us they had been happy with the service they had received.

People told us that their treatment options had been clearly explained to them. One person said, 'They're probably the best dentist I've ever been to'I think you could hold this practice up as an example'.

We asked people if they were happy with the levels of cleanliness in the clinic. We were told, 'It's pristine'. And, 'It looks clean and new. The dental nurse was cleaning equipment and wiping things down when I'd finished'.

We found that Wood and Associate Dental Care provided service users with appropriate information and support in relation to their treatment. Treatment was provided in a way that maintained people's privacy and dignity, by competent and properly trained staff. The provider had an effective system to regularly assess, identify and manage risks relating to the health, safety and welfare of people who used the service.

We found people were protected from the risk of infection. We saw that the treatment rooms and waiting areas appeared clean and tidy. There were policies in place in relation to infection control and there were clear procedures in place for the decontamination of equipment.
