During an inspection looking at part of the service

We did not speak to people who used the service during this inspection as it was not required for this follow up inspection. The inspection focussed on the procedures that were in place to deal with a medical emergency and the procedures that were in place to check that staff were suitable to work for the provider. We found that suitable arrangements were in place in both of these areas.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to three people who used the service and each person had positive comments to make. One person told us that they had been nervous coming to the dentist but they had been given reassurance by the receptionist and the dentist. During their appointment the dentist explained everything they were going to do. One person told us that the orthodontist therapist was friendly and explained what the treatment entailed and asked them if they were happy to go ahead. Another person told us that their treatment options were explained to them during their appointment.

We found that the provider had suitable arrangements in place for dealing with emergency appointments. However we found concerns during our inspection with arrangements for dealing with medical emergencies, and on checks that had been made on staff prior to their employment.
